Questions to ask before hiring a dental videographer.

Before approaching a dental videographer, it’s important to understand their process and what they can bring to the table.

Experience

Are they good shooters? Or good editors? Not all shooters edit, and even more so, not all editors can shoot.

Do they have substantial years of experience in dental video production, or did they just graduate?

Are they natural storytellers and know what questions to ask to build a story?

Are they going to use stock footage because they don’t have proper shot lists for corporate work?

Are they good project managers and know how to juggle multiple clients/projects?

Technical

Do they have fast turnarounds?

Do they know how to color correct your footage so it looks professional throughout?

Do they have access to premium music tracks, effects and graphics templates?

Do they have an efficient client review system?

Are they good with lighting techniques and know how to capture clean audio?

Do they have drones, gimbals and stabilizers for cinematic shots?

Do they have expensive lenses to get shots from a distance without disturbing you?

Personality

Are they good with people? Are they comfortable in a medical setting?

Do they have the confidence to direct doctors and patients?

How easy do you think it is to find someone that will tick all the boxes mentioned above? Since we do, and you’re here, let’s set you up for success, and save you time and headache.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Do I have to purchase a bundle?

No. You have the option to dip your toes into dental video production and order just one dental video if you wish. It’s your choice. We provide video bundles to make it easier, and more economic, to get started with some essential videos to get your dental practice’s online presence up to speed.

What types of dental video bundles do you offer?

We have pre-designed essential packages which are specifically tailored for those who don’t have videos, or have older videos that need to be replaced. We can create any custom package that fits your needs.

Will I need to close down my practice to produce dental videos?

No. In fact the busier your practice is the better. To avoid hiring actors and to keep costs in check, we will shoot in your element so patients can get a feel of your practice in its genuine element. We will probably just need to lock in some time with interviewees obviously, but for b-roll footage there is no need to close down business.

What is the difference between a commercial and a welcome video?

A commercial is much shorter. Although it could cover the same things as a welcome video, commercials are usually targeted for a specific purpose around a specific message. With a welcome video you have a bit more time to dwell on key concepts that are important for you. Funny enough it is usually cheaper to produce a welcome video than a commercial, and the reason is in a commercial every frame and second counts, so there is less room for improvisation, and controlling every element becomes more critical, and hence more expensive.

Is it better to just pay as we go, buy a bundle or partner long term?

We actually wrote an entire article on this. We highly encourage you to read project vs retainer to fully understand the pros and cons of each. But for the sake of simplicity, it all depends on the total number of videos you need for the short term vs the long term. For instance if you just need a couple of videos, it is better to pay-as-you-go. If you need 8 videos, it will be more cost efficient to bundle up. If you predict you will need more than 8 videos in total in the next year, it is a lot more economic to partner with us on a retainer and get access to partners-only discounts, and pay a lower monthly fee.

What can I do with my dental videos?

There are multiple ways to take advantage of your new dental videos. Once you sign off on a project, we will send you a high resolution master file for you to download and use as you see fit. We recommend of course uploading it to your YouTube channel, or Vimeo or even your own hosting platform, then sharing it everywhere you can: Social media, professional profiles, emails, existing patients list, make them part of your lead outreach, LinkedIn, your website and anywhere else you get traffic.
